The Restoration and Development Appeal

HRH The Princess Royal
Patron of the Appeal

Boston Stump is not only one of the great landmarks of Lincolnshire, it is also one of the great churches of England. It has stood for seven centuries at the heart of the town and its people. We hope that the success of this Appeal will secure its future, not only for Boston, but for the whole nation and for generations to come.

We want to make the church come alive for all who visit us, so they can appreciate its history, culture and spiritual dimensions.

To do this we have developed exciting and ambitious plans. We need to improve our facilities for worshippers and visitors, explain our heritage and history and put in place the financial resources for the continuation of the conservation and restoration plan.

All this so future generations can come and enjoy the experience that is Boston Stump.

WHAT WE WANT TO DO
Improve the refreshment and shop facilities
Provide for new toilets and vergers' accommodation
Upgrade office accommodation for administrative and volunteer staff
Provide the financial resources to fund the on-going programme of conservation and repairs
Free up space within the Church for future needs
Improve the visitor information, signage and interpretation
To achieve this we need to raise £3,000,000

This is a major challenge but with your help and support we believe it is achievable. Total raised to date March 2007 £300,000

Please give as much as you can.

Boston Stump Launches $1,000,000 Appeal in USA

Following the visit to Boston, Massachusetts by the Revd R Whitehead and the Parish Administrator, Boston Stump is set to launch a major capital appeal in the United States in 2007.

The Vicar and Parish Administrator spent a week spreading the Appeal's message to some of the most influential people in the city. The response was so positive that the Stump's American fundraising representative has recommended that a full capital appeal be launched.

The American appeal will focus on the restoration and heritage of the church, its historic links with Boston, Massachusetts and the Stump's 700th anniversary in 2009.

The Vicar of Boston, the Revd R Whitehead commented. "We were well received on our trip and many people we met were very interested in the Stump and what we are trying to do. We have therefore decided to go forward with a US capital appeal and are setting up a US based appeals committee supported by Catherine Clark an American fundraiser who will be setting up an office in Boston, Mass. There is still a lot of groundwork to be done but we expect to launch the appeal there in the spring of 2007".
